In today’s global economy, macro sale decisions often have a palpable impact on local conditions, even at the neighborhood scale. The district of Goethestraße in Bremerhaven experienced a massive influence of foreign (global) capital at the 1990’s. Pension found registered at the Frankfurt Stock exchange bought many of the old picturesque houses – most likely as insurance against global currency fluctuations. This is known as „investing in concrete“ (in German: „Betongold“ ) Today many of the former investing objects are „investment ruins“( in German: „Schrottimmobilien“ ) : run down, vacant, in a dilapidated state, even dangerous to enter. This Master Thesis Seminar tackled this site with a scenario-oriented strategy of how to come up with local solutions to global confusions!
